2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2022 Toyota Highlander

2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2022 Toyota Highlander

If you're searching for a mid-size crossover SUV, the Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Highlander are two of the most popular choices in Brooksville and beyond. Known for their comfort, technology features, and space for eight, these two crossover SUVs have taken the market by storm in recent years. Both of them offer incredible value for their money, but which one of them stands out in a crowded market as the clear-cut choice?

That's exactly what the Nissan specialists at Maus Nissan of Brooksville wanted to find out today with this head-to-head competition for winner-take-all rights as the ruler of the crossover SUV market.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2022 Toyota Highlander

From the outside, these two crossovers may appear to have the same versatility, capabilities, and creature comforts for everything you need for your daily commute or weekend road trips. But the truth is there is one clear winner when you look closer at the features and capabilities of each. And when you see for yourself that the winner is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, be sure to visit our showroom at Maus Nissan of Brooksville to take one for a test drive!

Let's put these two competitors in the ring and see who wins, shall we?!

Interior Design & Features

From the outside, the all-new, crispier design of the Pathfinder will surprise you, but that's not where it stops. Once you climb inside your new Pathfinder, you'll quickly fall in love with the upgraded, show-stopping 9-inch infotainment screen and premium sound system. With spacious legroom in both the front and back, the Pathfinder even offers heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated second-row seats, and even a heated steering wheel.

However, you have to pay for a package upgrade to get those types of interior creature comforts and features in the Highlander. For example, while the Highlander does come with the largest-in-class 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, you also have to pay a hefty price to get it over the standard 8-inch touchscreen. In addition, with tighter legroom in the back, the Highlander doesn't quite hold up in interior design and comfort to the spacious 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

Cargo & Utility

This is one area where both of these popular crossover SUVs are pretty much matched neck and neck, with the Toyota edging out the Pathfinder just slightly with 16.0 cubic feet behind the third-row seat, 48.4 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total capacity of 84.3 cubic feet with both sets of seats folded down.

If you look strictly at cargo space, the Pathfinder does fall a little short with only 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row, another 45.0 behind the second row, and a total of 80.5 cubic feet with both seats folded down. But it appears that the Nissan packs quite the punch in towing capacity to make up for those few cubic feet of difference. With the ability to pull up to 6,000 pounds, the Pathfinder beats the 5,000 pounds of the Highlander hands-down. And if you choose to go for the gas-electric Highlander, you only get up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.

Engine & Performance

The Pathfinder comes with a standard 284-horsepower V6 engine that packs quite the punch. With an impressively improved, tautly tuned suspension that provides for exceptional control on the road and nine-speed transmission, you'll be impressed with the way it handles bumpy Florida roads.

While the Highlander comes with a standard 295-horsepower V6 engine, it doesn't quite have the acceleration and performance-as you've seen with the towing capacity-as the Pathfinder. In addition, the engine is noisy as it sounds like it's working harder than it needs to, and the handling is a bit sloppy in comparison.

Bottom Line?

You've seen it here first, folks. However, this brutal head-to-head battle between the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder and the 2022 Toyota Highlander has a clear winner after knock-out. While both crossovers offer comfort and luxury for the money, the lack of performance, handling, and towing capacity of the Highlander ultimately mean the clear winner is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

Here's a quick breakdown of the ways the Pathfinder knocked out the Highlander:

        Better standard towing capacity.

More finely tuned suspension and a smoother ride.

        Premium standard technology and features.

Standard driver safety and assistance features.

        Updated exterior and interior design.
