2023 Nissan Ariya vs. 2023 Toyota BZ4X

Sleek and stylish are the name of the game when it comes to most crossover EVs on the market. But two newcomers are bringing aggressive styling and performance into the conversation, and they're doing it with style and class. The 2023 Nissan Ariya and the 2023 Toyota BZ4X are two of the most hotly anticipated crossover EVs coming to the lots across the North Tampa area soon. But which one of these powerful electric driving machines is best for you?

That's exactly what we wanted to look at today with this shocking street fight between the 2023 Nissan Ariya and the 2023 Toyota BZ4X.  Would the best crossover EV please stand up?!

 Performance

The 2023 Nissan Ariya comes with two externally excited synchronous eight-pole motor options. The first is a front-wheel-drive option that takes advantage of one motor and puts out an impressive 238-horsepower for a surprisingly sporty driving experience. The second option comes with two motors and 389-horsepower coupled with Nissan's state-of-the-art e-4FORCE all-wheel-drive system for precision handling and performance.

However, the standard single electric motor on the 2023 Toyota BZ4X only offers 201-horsepower. There is an all-wheel-drive, two motor option available, but it only boosts horsepower up to an unimpressive 215. Not to mention it costs a hefty upgrade charge.

 Winner: Ariya

 Range

The 2023 Nissan Ariya comes with four model options along with different ranges. All of them are powered by the same available 87.0 kWh battery pack. If you choose the Venture model, you'll love the long 300-mile range. For the Evolve and Premiere models, you can expect to get up to 285 miles on a single charge. And for the ultimate in performance with the AWD Platinum model, you'll have to exchange precision and performance for range with only up to 265 miles on a single charge.

Again, the Toyota BZ4X comes up short with only a 64.0 kWh battery pack that delivers up to 250 miles on a single charge. Now, that's for the standard front-wheel-drive model. However, Toyota has yet to release what is expected to be a shorter range on the dual-motor all-wheel-drive option.

 Winner: Ariya

 Safety Features

All of the Ariya models come standard with Nissan's state-of-the-art Safety Shield 360 driver safety and assistance features. In addition, you will also find Nissan's upgraded ProPilot Assist 2.0 system that uses driver monitoring to allow for a hands-off-the-wheel driving experience on highways. The features that come standard on the Ariya are:

 Forward collision warning

Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection

Blindspot warning

Rear cross-traffic warning with automatic rear braking

Lane departure warning

Automatic high beams.

With the BZ4X, you'll discover a standard suite of safety features that includes pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking. Unfortunately, for anything else, if Toyota offers it, you'll have to pay an expensive upgrade fee.

 Winner: Ariya… again!

 Bottom Line

The bottom line is that there is no real comparison between these two crossover EVs. While they both look sleek and stylish, all the performance and safety features you want are only found in the 2023 Nissan Ariya. Here's a quick breakdown of the ways the Ariya beats the BZ4X:

 · Better standard driver safety and assistance features.

· Better standard performance and handling.

· State of the art infotainment features.

· Updated interior built for comfort and ease of use.
